About the Class

(If you’ve had your baby less than 6 months ago, have a weak pelvic floor or diastasis recti, kindly check out our Early Days Mom class as it may be more suitable for you. Also feel free to get in touch with us and we’ll be more than happy to guide you.)

Active Momma is a fun, circuit-style, high intensity fitness class designed for mums! Very similar to Active Circuit, this class is designed to help you build a toned, lean body, improve your overall strength, lose weight, and most importantly feel vitalised and incredible!

Circuit training is a high intensity workout style which is perfect for achieving all of the above. It is performed in intervals of ‘work’ and ‘rest’ time where you’re constantly moving quickly from one exercise to another. Apart from keeping things exciting this helps your mind remain ‘in the zone’, so you’re fully focused, and your heart rate remains high and pumping. The result of all this is a high metabolic rate high for hours and hours after the session which means that you’ll be burning fat even while you’re lounging on the sofa or sitting at your desk!

Active Momma classes cater for women who need to be gentle and more mindful of their core. Alternative exercises are prescribed for ladies with diastasis recti, hernias or any pelvic floor issues. In this class we also focus on activating the core (and pelvic floor!) during the exercises.

Each and every class has a different format, which keeps things exciting and challenging since you’ll never know what to expect. Your body will never get lazy or accustomed to the training because the training stimulus is constantly changing and this means you get RESULTS from every single session! We also use a range of functional training gear such as sandbags, battle ropes, kettlebells, medicine balls and slam balls which are fun and also great tools for building strength.

This class is suitable whether you’ve been training for a while or whether you’re just starting out. You don’t need to be already fit to join – Isn’t the whole point of training to get fit!? Each participant works at their own pace and at an intensity that is appropriate for them. We are all individuals with different needs and goals, so what works for you might not necessarily work for someone else, and this is completely catered for in our classes. You’ll still be highly motivated by your trainer and the others to push your limits bit by bit, every single time.

We also pride ourselves with our attention to detail and small groups. You’ll learn how to exercise properly, use your core to support you in every single thing that you do and also learn optimal breathing strategies, making sure you get the most out of each and every workout, and also ensuring that you don’t get injured in the process. It’s basically just like having your very own personal trainer, but also having training buddies to workout with too!

So if you want a high intensity workout that’s effective, fun, in a friendly environment surrounded by amazing people, then this class is for you! Please remember to bring a bottle of water and a towel.

To get the most out of this class, we highly recommend attending a 1-1 core education and nutrition session.

Kids Welcome

We highly recommend that you use this class as part of your much needed ‘me time’ away from the kids. Attending this class alone will help you to focus on your technique and breathing and also really get into the workout mindset. However, if you’ve got no one to look after the kids while you’re training, feel free to bring them along.

I started attending ‘Early Days Mom’, and eventually ‘Active Momma’, a few weeks after having had my baby and it was one of the best decisions I made during my maternity leave! 🙂 Classes are intense but also good fun! Angele focuses on technique and encourages us to push ourselves that little bit further, and the fact that you actually do see an improvement from one class to the next makes you feel stronger and fitter. She is also very patient and makes sure to look after / look out for the little ones while the mummies work out, when needed. Definitely recommended!

Active spirit is one amazing place run by Angele Satariano who is an excellent and very dedicated trainer. Whether you’re a beginner or not, Angele specifically focuses on your needs in her classes, giving you 1-1 attention. If anyone has a medical issue (like myself) for which certain exercises would cause more harm than good Angele will always adapt the session and give you a completely different exercise which is safe, just for you! I’ve been attending Active Spirit since January 2017 and I can only say that it has become my get away from home to free my mind while getting amazing results. I feel so much better and will definately keep this up!

I learnt about Active Spirit and Angele Satariano through some positive comments on a facebook page, and on further inspection I discovered that Angele was specialized in post-natal fitness which was exactly what I was looking for. After having a one to one session with her it was clear that she knew the subject well. We talked about my post-natal condition called Diastis Recti and my goals to reactive my core muscles and strengthen them – she knew exactly what I was talking about and had a plan! This is was so refreshing since these post-natal issues are so rarely spoken/known about.
